Who started Lost Newcastle?
Lost Newcastle began in 2012 when former radio broadcaster, Carol Duncan, established a Facebook group for Novocastrians to share their photos and stories of Newcastle/Hunter Valley local history.

Become a patron!
Thousands of hours and thousands of dollars keep Lost Newcastle going. For over a decade, Lost Newcastle has remained free and ad-free. This is a true labour of love so if you feel that Lost Newcastle is enjoyable and meaningful for you, please consider becoming a patron. Your support makes all the difference.
Lost Newcastle supports local history research
Lost Newcastle is a proud supporter of the Vera Deacon Regional History Fund at the University of Newcastle. Each year, we make a donation to the fund to help support the important work of the university’s regional history archives and collections.
Why do you use plastic wrappers on your postcards?
Snails love letterboxes. Our postcards are made of high-quality papers and we want them to arrive in your letterbox in pristine condition. Our bags are actually BOP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) which is food grade, they do not yellow with age, are stronger than ‘cellophane’ and are acid-free. They are a ‘number 5 recyclable’ so check with your local council to see if you can pop them in your recycling bin or not. In the City of Newcastle, they can be placed in your Curby recycling bag.
Can I be a stockist?
Yes! For wholesale enquiries, please contact us via the contact form.
Can you help me record a chat with a family member?
Yes. This is at the heart of Lost Newcastle – saving stories. We all know that we should ask more questions of our parents and grandparents while we have them, but all too often we just don’t get around to it. This part of our mission is one of our founder’s great loves. We want it to be easy, affordable and special. Get in touch to discuss.
